As an elementary school teacher, this tragedy has hit very close to home. One of my ways of dealing with such things is to make music, so I wrote this song today. As I watch the news reports about the students and their families, I know this could just as easily have been my school and my students, or even my daughter. Any money I make on this song will be donated to Mental Health America in hopes of getting people the help they need before another event like this happens. May this song help you find some peace in this difficult time.

Share Each Other’s Pain

(verse 1)
May we live in peace
May we meet each other’s needs
May we find a way to treasure every moment
and may we weep with those who grieve

May we never live in fear
of losing what we hold so dear
May we find it in our hearts to love
and hold each other near

(chorus)
There’s no use asking why…. All we can do is try
to comfort broken hearts and let compassion be our guide
There’s no use placing blame ‘cause it always ends the same
so let us find some common ground and share each other’s pain

(verse 2)
May we clear our eyes
so we can see where we’ve been blind
May we learn that we are all so much the same
and may that heal our hearts and minds

May we carry every load
for those who need it most
May we see that we are travelers
all walking the same road

(final chorus)
There’s no use asking why…. All we can do is try
to comfort broken hearts and let compassion be our guide
Let every living thing be free from suffering
but until then we’ll find some common ground and share each other’s pain
until then we’ll find some common ground and share each other’s pain
